WEEKLY CLASSES:
Classes are designed so that they can be repeated, allowing students to build on the skills they've learned in their previous class.  For example, students who completed the Winter 2018 session of Fundamentals of Acting may wish to continue the Spring 2020 Fundamentals of Acting to continue developing the foundation they've already established, so they can work toward higher level classes/opportunities. Feel free to contact us for assistance in choosing the appropriate class(es) for you or your child.

Practical Improv Technique
Ages 12-18 Level: Intermediate/Advanced

Thursdays 6:10-7:10 PM | Class Dates: March 19, 26,  April 2, 9
Description: This class is not about being funny! It's about being real, trusting your instincts, and connecting to other actors in a scene in an authentic way. "Over half of the professional auditions I have attended recently consisted solely of improv. No script was provided," says instructor, Mindy Barker. Rather than focusing on performance-style games, students will learn practical improv technique that they will use not only at auditions, but in situations where the director doesn't call cut or when something goes awry in a live performance. By developing these improv skills, students will reduce the anxiety and nervousness that detracts from their performances.  It is vital that actors master this type of improv skill before advancing to the world of professional acting.
